Pastors of Korean Christian Reformed congregations near Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., came together March 8-9 for a “Just Show Up” Book Club retreat. Organized by the Korean ministry of the CRC, the event was partially supported by a grant received from Grace and Mercy Foundation.
The ministry provided resources and the gathered pastors read and discussed two books helpful to pastoral work. Pastors were encouraged to begin Just Show Up book clubs in their own congregations.
Participants included pastors who attend Just Show Up meetings every Thursday and a couple of pastors from other denominations. They enjoyed learning and sharing opinions as they reviewed Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero and Preaching by Tim Keller.
The Just Show Up motto, “Come together, hear with your ears, and read with your eyes!” summarizes the goal of familiarizing Korean-speaking Christians with some of the world's famous preachers and authors. Similar events have also been held in New Jersey and in Los Angeles, Calif.
