Opus Dei founder Josemaría Escrivá became a priest during the early rumblings of the Spanish Civil War. The film There Be Dragons chronicles his obedience to the call, while a fictional childhood friend, Manolo, takes a completely different route. Manolo turns away from the priesthood, eventually joining the fighting. Beautiful cinematography enhances an epic story of finding meaning in suffering and the chaos of life. Director Roland Joffé (The Mission, The Killing Fields) does justice to themes of love, grace, and forgiveness.  In theaters now. (Mount Santa Fe)
