After being amazed by the Sea to Sea bicycle tour a few years back, when a group of CRC members traversed the U.S. from coast to coast, I thought I’d seen the most ambitious bike trip around. Little did I know! I recently stumbled on the blog of the Big Africa Cycle, the trip that a cyclist named Peter Gostelow embarked on in August 2009. He left England, alone, to bike his way to Cape Town, South Africa, hoping to raise money to fight malaria along the way. He is currently in Kenya, making his way to Tanzania. While he appears to have a secular point of view, he runs into our own CRC missionaries, Mike and Megan Ribbens, in Abuja, Nigeria. Later, he ends up speaking at Hillcrest School, which has been educating our missionary kids and others from around the world since 1955. His blog is a real and evenhanded portrait of Africa, and the photos are wonderful.
