Tired of ads and subscription fees on Pandora or Spotify? Then try listening online to Espace Musique, the eclectic French-Canadian radio station. On the main page (Accueil) look on the left for the various web radios, ranging from pop to jazz, world, and classical. Or select a genre (Écoutez par Genre tab on the right) and then pick further subgenres. For example, under World (Musique du Monde) you can try Celtique or Afrobeat. Easy enough, right?
If you can’t figure out the French, just click to see and hear what you can get! Pop selections do favor French and French-Canadian songs, but you can skip selections you don’t like and specify your tastes within a genre. All pieces are clearly identified, often with album covers on display. You can also listen to the radio’s live feed, with talk during the weekday and excellent jazz and classical programming weeknights and weekends. (www.espace.mu)
