The church is continually trying to understand its relationship with culture. Christians have long debated how they can best engage the culture in which they find themselves. Into the Noise was formed as a new approach to these questions. This organization seeks to form a community around the connections between spirituality and culture. A small group of participants will travel to significant cultural events to have conversations in community around how spirituality and culture intersect. They offer community experiences around the annual Sundance Film Festival, the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival, and ArtPrize, the public art project in Grand Rapids. Rather than attempting to bring relevant cultural artifacts to a specific location for a festival or conference, this organization wants to immerse its participants directly into the noise of popular culture where it is already coming together.
