Peter Furler served a long stint as the lead singer of the popular Christian band Newsboys. Furler and his own new three-piece band now provide a sound similar to the Aussie Newboys days. In the project Sun and Shield, Furler and company offer driving guitar music with a few ballads sprinkled in for balance. The music is reflective without being preachy. Furler’s exceptional talent shines throughout. The song Yeshua is worth the price of the album alone.
Furler teams up with his father-in-law (and ex-Christian rocker and gospel singer) Mylon Le Fevre to deliver a powerful praise-and-worship song that makes you want to raise your hands. Furler has an impressive array of musicians assisting with this project, including Steve Taylor, Jimmy Abegg, and Newsboys bandmate Phil Joel.
