Planted is an “in the beginning” tale about a vision, the call to follow, and the community that pulled together and continues to bring dreams to reality. It is the story of how A Rocha Canada came to be.

With first-person passion, author Leah Kostamo describes how, without money or experience, Kostamo and her husband, Markku, set their hearts on establishing an environmental center for creation care on the west coast of Canada. They were inspired by and modeled their efforts on the first A Rocha site, established in Portugal in 1983.

From 1996 to the present, a community has evolved on the fragile Little Campbell Watershed in Surrey, British Columbia. The Kingfisher and Brooksdale farm sites are home to a number of families committed to living in community, caring for an endangered habitat, and providing opportunities for education, research, internships, and volunteering. The winsome text is accompanied by Kostamo’s whimsical illustrations. An enjoyable read. (Wipf and Stock)
