Jamie Grace’s youthful enthusiasm is distinctly clear on her second release, Ready to Fly. This is not a heavy spiritual record but one of beautiful simplicity. The 22-year-old singer/songwriter offers uplifting themes such as hope, perseverance, love for God, and young anticipation, and her music includes pop, hip-hop, rap, and even some banjo. The song “Fighter” is a tribute to specific people fighting difficult circumstances. It’s an interesting choice because Grace has Tourette syndrome; perhaps she draws strength from the folks she mentions in the song. This album will be particularly appealing to youth, but also to anyone who enjoys fun, lighthearted music. Young listeners might appreciate the full-color take-out poster of Grace inside the CD packaging. (Gotee Records)
