A weeklong mission trip to Rehoboth, N. Mex., in 2004 inspired Dave Hollebeek, 46, and his daughter Jacquie, 23, to travel there again in 2005—this time riding recumbent Bigha bikes. The 1,250–mile journey raised $20,000 for a new gymnasium for Rehoboth Christian School. Founded in 1903 by the Christian Reformed Church, the school has 426 students in grades K–12, 70 percent of whom are Native American. Dave says the trip was “phenomenal in so many ways,” including the chance to spend three solid weeks with his daughter. They are both members of Westview Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Mich.
