Tasha Layton sang backup for Katy Perry for four years and also appeared on American Idol. Now the South Carolina native has a new Christian EP (Extended Play) titled, Love Running Wild. Layton displays her beautiful, powerful voice with songs that have already made the Christian record charts. The bouncy, Love Lifting Me is a declaration of God’s care in difficult/weakness: “Saying no to my downcast soul, saying no to the lies I tell myself.” The triumphant, I Belong to You, is a listener favorite that features an engaging saxophone. Part of the lyric states: “You won’t let me down, you won’t let me go.” Sound of Heaven closes the EP celebrating dependence upon the Lord and features Jesus Culture’s Chris McClarney. Love Running Wild offers listeners upbeat, solid pop with easy to understand lyrics. If this EP is an indication, Layton has a bright future in the contemporary Christian market. (BEC Recordings)
