Unsung Hero (The Inspired By Soundtrack)

Brothers Luke and Joel Smallbone of the duo King + Country place their signature stamp on some Christian contemporary classics and offer a few new songs on the Unsung Hero (The Inspired By Soundtrack), the companion to the popular movie with the same name. “What a field day we had with this album,” said the Smallbones in a release. “We have more features than any album we’ve ever done, having had the opportunity to take these incredibly nostalgic ’90s songs and re-imagine them with a KING + COUNTRY flair. Listeners will hear favorites such as “You’re the Voice,” “Place in This World,” “To Hell With the Devil,” and “Lead Me On.” Recent songs include “Checking In,” “Crazy,” and a beautiful ballad titled “You Make Everything Beautiful,” sung by the Smallbones’ sister, Rebecca St. James. The bridge states, “Lifting open hands to You my Savior; Beautify my soul; Knowing you redeemed my pain and failure; Purify my soul, beautify my soul, yeah.” The album features an impressive guest artist list besides St. James: Michael W. Smith, Lee Brice, Lecrae, Stryper, Amy Grant, Sleeping at Last, and Hillary Scott. This recording provides a tantalizing sound and the bonus of good memories of retro Christian contemporary music.
