World Literature Ministries, the global publishing arm of Faith Alive Christian Resources, has published its first children’s Bible in Spanish.
Esta és mi Biblia (translated from the English “this is my Bible”), intended for children ages 3 to 6, is being produced by Libros Desafío, the Spanish language line of World Literature Ministries. It features 40 hard-board pages in a large format with full-color illustrations.
Presales had already reached 2,000 internationally before distribution of Esta és mi Biblia began in September.
Jan Dijkman, director of World Literature Ministries, said the new children’s Bible marks an important milestone for a ministry that has previously focused on Reformed materials for adults.
“Libros Desafío has never produced children’s books before,” he said. “This book is meant to be read by parents to their kids. We hope it will also help parents and grandparents stimulate reading and interest in the big story of the Bible.”
The success of Esta és mi Biblia will generate revenues to support development of future publications.
World Literature Ministries is also expanding its Spanish-language publishing efforts through a new agreement with Andamio, a Christian publishing house in Barcelona, Spain.
Andamio and World Literature Ministries will jointly publish an Old Testament Bible study series in Spanish, and they will work together to produce other Christian academic books as well. Andamio will supply World Literature Ministries with translation, editing, and typesetting services.
The agreement will provide for more extensive production of Spanish-language reformational materials and wider distribution to Hispanic congregations and Christians throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
World Literature Ministries’ sales and revenues will rise as a result of the agreement with Andamio, said Dijkman, while production costs and market risks, being shared, will drop.
World Literature Ministries is part of Faith Alive, the publishing ministry of the Christian Reformed Church.
