The boys’ volleyball team from Durham Christian High School in Bowmanville, Ontario, won first place and took home gold at the recent Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association Volleyball ‘A’ Championships in Sudbury, Ontario.
They fought off 20 other teams for the title, becoming the first Christian school in the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools to win a provincial championship.
“Durham has had a tradition of playing competitive volleyball for decades but has never won this honor before,” said team coach Tammy Dibbits. “I have never coached a team that was this cohesive. I believe their success on the court was a result of how they treated each other off the court. They were a great team to coach.”
