With 218 riders, this summer’s Sea to Sea binational bike tour from Seattle, Wash., to Jersey City, N.J., is the largest ever bicycle tour to cross North America. From June 28 to Aug. 30, 127 riders will cycle the entire route, with another 91 riders cycling one portion of the tour.
Presented by the Christian Reformed Church and the Reformed Church in America, the tour is expected to raise $1.5 million to help alleviate poverty locally and globally.
During the tour celebration rallies will be held in 12 cities along the route. “The rallies . . . will unite participants in worship and in commitment to address poverty in Jesus’ name,” said Rev. Jerry Dykstra, executive director of the CRC. Dykstra and his wife, Linda, will be riding a tandem bike on the final leg of the tour.
A devotional book, Shifting Gears, includes maps that show where the riders will be each day so supporters can follow along. See page 38 for ordering information.
