Classis Ko-Am held its first continuing education event for officebearers at The Great Vision Christian Reformed Church in Los Angeles. All officebearers were invited, pastors, elders, deacons, and kwonsas (traditionally elderly women in Korean-American churches).
The event was sponsored by the classis education committee led by Rev. Tae K. Ko. It was a followup to the Church Order Seminar by Rev. Kathy Smith from Calvin Theological Seminary and Rev. Joel Boot, CRC executive director emeritus.
More than 50 officebearers from different churches gathered for the learning event. One participant, elder Jong K. Lee from Global CRC in Los Angeles, said, “This learning for all leaders, especially lay church leaders, [bringing] combined experiences. It’s a way of lifelong learning. We’re all in this together.”
The training was led by Rev. Kwon S. Kwak, who taught about the role of officebearers, and by Rev. Theodore Lim, who taught about the Church Order.
The education committee is planning more events in the future on diverse topics with guest speakers for all pastors, elders, deacons, and kwonsas.
