The tenth studio album from southern California band Switchfoot may be their best yet, even competing with their 2003 breakout album The Beautiful Letdown, which reached double platinum status and sold more than 2.6 million copies.
Where the Light Shines Through presents Switchfoot’s signature rock sound with some pop and ballads mixed through. The band avoids “preachy lyrics” since they desire to appeal to mainstream audiences, but they still touch on common themes of faith, hope, and God.
The single “Live It Well” encourages us to make good use of our life. “Looking for America,” featuring hip-hop artist Lecrae, laments the present condition of the United States and calls for justice and healing.
Where the Light Shines Through is a must-listen for anyone interested in a beautiful piece of music and artistry. (Vanguard)
