Minneapolis, Minn.-based River Valley Worship keeps making powerful music, and its fourth album, “Altars,” testifies again to divine power. The project features 13 songs mostly based upon Scripture and over an hour’s worth of encouraging listening. “Altars” was born as a result of a letter a visiting missionary sent to worship leader Ryan Williams. In part, it said: “Ryan, you have to realize that when you step on a platform or stage, you’re stepping on an altar.” The music includes high-energy tunes such as “Future,” “Love that Lasts,” and “Both Sides,” and quieter songs, including “Let It be Jesus.” “Both Sides” references Jesus’ resurrection and the chorus states: “No stone, no grave / Can hold back Your power / No lie, no chain / Can hold back Your love / Every knee will bow, And everyone will know / You’re King on both sides of the stone.” This recording provides great hope and will delight the heart of its listeners.
