Louisiana-born singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle offers her first full-length album in three years, but in a two-phase format. She released 10 songs in May 2023 and will present 13 more later in the year. The 10 selections feature blues, Cajun, and folk sounds as Daigle’s powerful, soulful voice anchors the music. “I love celebrating life, and that was really important to show and express in this record,” she told Variety magazine. The champ of the album is the first single, “Thank God I Do.” It talks about Daigle’s close relationship with the Lord: “I don’t know who I’d be if I didn’t know you; I’d probably fall off the edge; I don’t know where I’d go if you ever let go; So keep me in your hands.” Other songs include “Waiting,” which notes a woman waiting to meet her relationship partner, and “Kaleidoscope Jesus,” a tune about Jesus showing up in unimaginable places. The artwork on the album is colorful and animated. This self-titled record is a positive, upbeat effort from an artist at the top of her game. (Atlantic Records/Centricity Music)
