Jaime Jamgochian offers listeners soothing and sweet melodies in her latest release, Sacred Surrender, her first record in almost four years. “I want to see people encounter the love of God in these songs,” Jamgochian said on her website. “I want to see them feel hope because when I first met Jesus, that’s what I felt. I didn’t know the Bible that well; I barely prayed the sinner’s prayer right, but I felt hope. I felt peace like I had never known. The older I get, I don’t want complicated. I want simple faith, simple trust in God, and simple songs that people can easily sing over and over again.” Jamgochian welcomed special guests to the project including Selah, Ginny Owens and Citizen Way. Highlights include “By Heart” with Owens celebrating God’s faithfulness; “Our Father” with Selah based upon the Lord’s Prayer; and “Coming Back Again (Holy, Holy, Holy),” a triumphant anthem with Citizen Way. The recording closes with the title cut featuring a beautiful mix of piano and violin with lyrics that point the listener to God’s call to be still. The music of Sacred Surrender begs reflection and the words explore God’s character. (Avodah Music)
